UPDATE: Rintu was adopted 2 years ago and has recently been brought back. The adopters claim we adopted to them a mean dog. Rintu was not mean when we adopted him to them but when he came back he had some major issues. He was a very sad puppy :( He went back to his original foster home, where he had done well in before, and caused chaos. He bit his foster mom, dad and their kids, their other Chihuahuas, went after any and all visitors and WAS a mean dog. He was unpredictable and untrustworthy. After spending some time with them, they thought he may be a lost cause. Another foster home took him home to see if things would be different there. The new foster parents were warned about his unpredictability. The first day he was ok. The second day he was barking non-stop and his foster mom told him to stop. He did not listen and she went to take his toys away - nothing is free in retraining - you have to earn everything, including toys and treats by behaving - and he went after her and bit her. She yelled at him NOOOOOOOO!!!!! and bopped him on his head. He tried to turn inside out with embarrassment at what he just did and wanted to disappear. After that, he has been a perfect little angel :) He has not bitten his foster mom since, has now befriended his foster dad and will kiss his face, gets along with the other dogs in the house and is coming along very nicely. He will need someone to adopt him that is a confident dog owner. We believe Rintu will try to test anyone that he encounters and how they react will determine his behavior. He now loves his foster mom, loves going for rides in the car, loves to dance around when he get excited and loves dentastix ;) Rintu will not be good with children and likes to barks at cats - although the cats he barks at are bigger than he is and he does not go after them. He needs a owner that is dog savvy and will continue to work with him. If you are interested in him please contact Irma - idelozier@hotmail.com at the Animal Relief Fund for more information.
ORIGINAL COMMENTS: Rintu is a very nervous little boy. He is doing much better with his foster family but he needs someone that will be patient with him and continue to work on his socializtion skills :)
