Benson was given up with another dog by a family who was "moving and couldn't take the dogs with them." He's the average "Terrier Mix," but he looks like a cross between a Puggle (beagle/pug) and a Schnauzer, so let's have fun and call him a SCHNUGGLE!!
Benson is a skilled hugger and kisser. He literally wraps his paws around your neck and squeezes! He is all about love and is happiest when he's right beside you. He's more housebroken than most, and knows how to SIT like a pro. He's a nice size where he's easy to handle but far from fragile.
Benson is fine with the other dogs in his foster home, but hasn't decided he want's to dive into playing quite yet. He lingers back, and likes his personal space. He seems to like watching the other dogs as they chase each other around the living room. He is curious about toys, but doesn't know exactly what to do with them. I think, in time, he'll come out of his shell and find the joys of really being a dog. He chases the cat, but will quit with a stern, "NO, LEAVE IT!"
Benson wants to sit on your lap or crawl up on the top of the couch behind you as you watch your favorite show. He's eager to please, and could probably learn a few tricks without much problem. Benson IS a bit protective of himself though. He doesn't like to be pulled by his collar, and isn't fond of having his feet touched. He will come when called, and is thrilled when he can be rewarded with a snuggle and a pat. He's just a fellow who prefers an invitation rather than a demand.
Just to be safe, we'd prefer he go to a home with a family who is patient and mature enough to enjoy all Benson has to offer, but who can respect his personal space. Younger kids would not be ready for him yet.
