About Lilly

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with White
  • Current Age: 14 Years (best estimate)

My name is Lilly. I am approximately 5 1/2 months old, weigh approximately 40 lbs and assumed to be a Bull Terrier/Lab/Shepherd mix. I came from a high kill shelter that euthanizes every Thursday and because of my possible terrier breed I had no chance of adoption until my foster mommy set her eyes on me.

Crate Trained: I am currently being kept as a inside dog who likes to be outside when attended etc.  I am kept confined to a small area inside my foster mommy’s home  and sometimes in a crate so I am used to both. I am about 90% potty trained.  I know that when I cam taken out that I am supposed to do my poops and pees and I do but sometimes, when I am playing inside too ong I will pee on the floor still, so you have to still watch me and remind me to go outside.

Leash Trained: I am walked ona leash every day and per my obedience traininer I am supposed to wear a choke collar to help remind me who the pack leader is (and it's not me).  I will occasionally still bark and lunge when I see something that sparks my attention.

Cats: Unfortunately I am not doing so well with not chasing and trying to eat the family cat.  If you want me to live with a cat/cats you will have to continue to work with me and I think over time I will get used to it.  My current cat mate is declawed so our introductions have been minimal for her sake although her hiss and meow does startle me.

Dogs:  I have currently been living with a 9 year old Golden Retriever mix that is tolerating me but I am too much puppy for her.  I do seem to like every other dog I meet, so I would like a playmate.  I have had training in how not to jump, bite and aggravate another dog but may need some reminding now and then.

Behavior: I am VERY energetic.  I have had extensive training on not to chew, bite and jump on everyone and everyelse. If I start to do any of these things you must shake my can of rocks at me and I will submit to you.  I have chewed on a doorframe in my room so my foster mom has sprayed a bitter taste on there to make me stop and so far it is working.  I do know how to sit and give paw.  I will fetch a ball.  I will come when called and I love, love, love toys, but please not tug-of-war as that might encourage me to start nipping again.

Diet: I am currently on Taste of the Wild Bison & Venison formula but also like the IAMs proactive puppy formula as well. I get fed in the am and the pm. I am also very motivated by treats. I will sit for a treat and am learning that if I do not sit then I do not get a treat. I also love fresh water and will drink plenty of it.

Health: I am spayed, up to date on vaccines and kept current on Interceptor and Advantix.  My schedule has been to get Interceptor and and Advantix on the first of the month.  I have had 2 baths so far and I am getting better although I must say I am not a big fan of the shower/bathtub.  I sldo do not seem to want to be a water dog at all.

Well there you have it, that is me, Lilly, in a nutshell. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask as my foster mommy wants to ensure that I get a forever home right from the start so that I do not come back with bad habits that because of the discrimination against my breed may pose a threat to me. Thanks so much!
